Map

Built in 1847 when the Middle Level Drain was dug to regulate the discharge of water into the River Ouse. Built from brick with oak sluice gates. This sluice failed in 1862 and a replacement was built on a siphon channel to the west. This to proved inadequate and in 1877 a newer gate with pumping station was built on the site of the original. This was further replaced with a pumping station and sluice to the north in 1934. The 1877 pumping station is marked as 'Engine House' on the 1st edition ordnance survey map (S1).
