Map

April 2010-January 2011. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of groundworks associated with construction of extension at rear of building.
These works revealed a post-medieval wall which would have formed part of a cellar or undercroft. A small amount of evidence for previous structures on the site was recovered in the form of foundation trenches along with finds of post-medieval pottery, glass, a clay tobacco pipe and unfinished bone skate. There was also evidence for the skinning of animals on an industrial scale and pottery associated with these deposits could suggest that this activity dates to the post-medieval period.
See report (S1) for further details.
