Full Description
November 2009. Systematic fieldwalking. Caistor Research Project (CRP 12 Field 12).
1 ?Palaeolithic blade-like flint flake with 'toad-belly' patination and minor edge damage.
6 undatable prehistoric flint flakes (one patinated cream and probably natural).
15 Roman pottery sherds (including greyware, mortarium, oxidised and Samian).
1 ?Roman pottery sherd (oxidised).
4 medieval pottery sherds (including unglazed and glazed).
12 post-medieval pottery sherds (including late post-medieval and Glazed Red Earthenware).
Recent and undatable ceramic building material, undatable and recent iron objects, recent glass, bone fragments and pieces of stone (including calcinated flints were not listed.
Flints identified by P. Robins (NCM) and other finds by A. Rogerson (HES).
