Map

The stone in the east gable of the building carried the inscription "1858 R & A.P." securely dating the building to as early as 1858. The building was made from flint with brick and had a tall, ornate chimney on the middle of the roof apex. There were also lean to extensions at the side and rear. The oven was brick with iron fittings. White's directory (S1) lists the Pollard family baking here in 1863 to 1888. As of 1916-25 the bakery was run by Morleys until closure in 1955.
The site was surveyed by NIAS in the 1970s and re-visited in 1995 after the site had been mostly demolished. The site is now occupied by a new dwelling and the carved gable stone is incorporated into the property's garage.
