Full Description
A complex of small buildings which included housing, shops and fish curing buildings. These houses were demolished between 1945 and 1978 due to being derelict and dangerous. The last few to the north were removed to make space for the new telephone exchange built in 1978. The area was surveyed by NIAS in 1970 (one of their first reports) and at that time several of the buildings were demolished already or in a derelict state. Among the houses and small businesses they counted four fish curing houses around the complex.
Full report with extensive drawings, plans, maps and photographs are in NIAS file.
