Full Description
Before Janaury 2010. Field visit.
A mound, possibly a round barrow.
D. Robertson (HES), 10 June 2011.
This feature appears to be respected by a field boundary on the Great Dunham Tithe Map (S1).
A. Cattermole (HES), 10 June 2011.
March 2024. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
The above possible Bronze Age round barrow (see above) was not seen on the sources consulted as part of this project. The earthworks of a large natural mound or hill are visible on the visualised lidar data (S2) at this location. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently (2017) it is likely that the mound or hill still survives. It is likely that the field boundary on the Great Dunham Tithe Map (S1) respects this natural feature. The monument polygon has been updated to the extent of the feature as seen on the visualised lidar data (S2).
J. Powell (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 13 March 2024.
