Summary

Site of Bronze Age round barrow, visible as earthwork on Salthouse heath, on 1946 aerial photographs. The barrow can still be seen on the ground, though eroded and covered in vegetation.

No change. Bracken and gorse. Uneven flattish top with small holes and trench (not recent).

October 2002. Norfolk NMP.
Earthworks of round barrow, visible on the 1946 RAF aerial photographs (S1). The diameter of the mound appears to be around 25m, although the exact dimensions may be being obscured by vegetation. A rectangular trench like feature is possibly visible at TG 0741 4188, measuring 3.5m by 2m. This may relate to antiquarian activity or possibly modern military digging on the heath.

Carefully cleared of vegetation, but edges obscured by debris. Some scrub re-invading.
