The buildings on the site consist of brick and pantile structures and 2 modern steel warehouses. The brick chimney of the boiler house is approx 55 feet tall. Aldrich is recorded from 1836 in White's directory (S1) as "Brushmaker". Kelly's directory (S2) from 1896 to 1904, after which the factory was purchased by Roydon's who ran the firm until closure in 1988. The site is marked on the 1st ed. 1ins O.S. map at "Matting Manufacturer" (S3). The site is visible on RAF 1946 aerial photographs. When surveyed by NIAS in 1988, some of the original steam powered machinery and even the main boiler were still in situ. After closure in 1988, the site was sold and redeveloped as housing in 1990.
