Summary

In March 2010 a fieldwalking survey recovered a large quantity of prehistoric worked flint and pottery dating from the Roman to post-medieval period. The worked flints are likely to be predominantly of later prehistoric date, the exception being a single Mesolithic microlith.

Full Description

March 2010. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey.
Field survey of proposed development area (Field 1).
The survey recovered a large quantity of prehistoric worked flint, including 1 core, 129 flakes, 9 blades, 6 scrapers and 1 microlith. With the exception of the Mesolithic microlith it is probable that the majority of these flints were of Neolithic to Early Bronze Age date. Romano-British, Late Saxon, medieval and post-medieval pottery was also recovered from this area.
