Summary

The remains of medieval and Georgian Kelling Hall. The Georgian building was built to the south of the medieval hall. Both are now in ruins. Parts of the medieval moated structure were excavated in 1986 and 1987 when a turret stair, garderobe and possible forebuilding were recorded. Pieces of Iron Age, Roman, Late Saxon and post medieval pottery were recovered. Later metal detecting found Roman coins, part of an Early Saxon brooch and two pieces of medieval pilgrim badge.

Full Description

Moated remains of medieval hall adjacent to site of Georgian hall which replaced it.

15 April 1980. Visit.
Site of the Georgian hall. Now occupied by greenhouses, a walled garden and an overgrown platform of earth above the pojnd. No traces of pre 18th or 19th century work.
