Monitoring of groundworks associated with construction of new residential dwellings.
A moderate quantity of Late Saxon and early medieval pottery was recovered, suggesting that the site lies within the area of the Late Saxon town.
A World War Two domestic air raid shelter was also encountered in part of the foundation trenches.
