The cottage is shown on the 6 inch 1st edition ordnance survey map (1879-1886).

2011. Planning application.
Originally no 40 was two cottages which at some point were joined to created a single property. The cottage is rendered timber frame with a pantile roof. An application was made to demolish the southern cottage.
