NHER 54664 (Monument record) - Site of possible medieval to post medieval building platforms, enclosures or a moat

Two possible building platforms, conjoined and of presumed medieval to post medieval date, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1946 (S1)-(S3), centred at TG 0935 0258. The ditches that define them are fairly substantial, and they could conceivably represent a double moat, but there is no other evidence to support this. The earthworks lie on the edge of the hamlet of Chapel Bridge, just above the floodplain of the River Tiffey. It is possible that they are simply drainage ditches, but their size and rectilinear plan sets them apart from the other drainage features in this area.
The platforms or enclosures (no actual raised areas are visible but the dimensions suggest former buildings) are rectangular or even square in plan. The larger, westernmost enclosure measures 31.5m by 34.5m externally and 19.5m by 21.5m internally. The eastern enclosure measures 27m wide externally and 16m wide internally.
