Summary

Former site of one of 3 surviving milestones on the Aylsham to Saxthorpe sideroad of the Norwich to Cromer turnpike. This turnpike was created in 1794, before being extended in 1811 and was disturnpiked in 1876. The stone was recorded as lost in 2002.

One of 3 surviving milestones placed on the Aylsham to Saxthorpe sideroad of the Norwich to Cromer turnpike, marking Norwich 14 miles and Holt 9 miles.

These milestones date from just after the original creation of the turnpike, as it is likely that they are the remainder of the set created for the Turnpike by Mr John Ivory in 1796.
