Summary

Former site of one of 14 surviving milestones along the former Norwich to Scole Turnpike. This turnpike was created in 1768-1769 and was disturnpiked in 1874. The stone was recorded as lost in the 1990s.

One of 14 surviving milestones along the former Norwich to Scole Turnpike, marking Norwich 15 miles and Ipswich 28 miles. This turnpike was created in 1768/1769, running from the junction with the Norwich to Thetford Turnpike just south of St Stephen's Gate to Scole bridge on the Suffolk border, and lasted for 106 years before being disturnpiked in 1874.
