Full Description
One of 6 surviving milestones along the Fakenham to Hillington extension of the Wells to Fakenham turnpike. This turnpike was created in 1826 and ran from Wells to Fakenham via Egmere, Walsingham and Snoring, before being extended in 1828 from Fakenham to Hillington, and then joined a branch of the turnpike running from Lynn East Gate. The turnpike was disturnpiked in 1881.
All of the milestones along this route are triangular in plan, with the parish name inscribed vertically on the spine.

2014. Repair work by the Milestone Society.
Milestone Society members repaired this milestone after being damaged by a flail cutter and then further repair work after being damage after it fell over. Stainless rods were fixed into the base of the stone to accept a concrete plinth. After being repaired the milestone was cleaned and painted. The stone was re-set in its original position.
