Summary

One of 6 surviving milestones along the Fakenham - Hillington extension to the Wells - Fakenham turnpike. This turnpike was created in 1826, extended in 1828 and was disturnpiked in 1881.

One of 6 surviving milestones along the Fakenham to Hillington extension of the Wells to Fakenham turnpike. This turnpike was created in 1826 and ran from Wells to Fakenham via Egmere, Walsingham and Snoring, before being extended in 1828 from Fakenham to Hillington, and then joined a branch of the turnpike running from Lynn East Gate. The turnpike was disturnpiked in 1881.

All of the milestones along this route are triangular in plan, with the parish name inscribed vertically on the spine.
