Prehistoric objects recovered in the area of "Beeston Hills" during the early 20th century. The area known as Beeston Hills lies to the north-east of Sheringham, overlooking the coast. It includes the area now known as Beeston Bump (TG 167 432).

2 April 1912. Stray Find.
Found at Beeston Hills by F. H. Barclay:
1 prehistoric fragmentary chipped flint axe. White patina, triangular section, 5 3/4 inches [14.6cm] long. Information from (S1).
This is probably a white patinated broken axe/adze from "Beeston Hills" that was identified in the Norwich Castle Museum's F. H. Barclay collection (NWHCM : 1935.57) by R. Jacobi and noted in (S2). Its inclusion suggests that it was considered to be potentially Mesolithic.

1 January 1914. Stray Find.
Found by F. H. Barclay near Beeston Hill:
1 Neolithic polished axe. 4 2/3 inches [11.9cm] long, 1 1/2 inch [3.8cm] wide at cutting edge.
Information from (S1). Probably part of the NCM's F. H. Barclay Collection (NWHCM : 1935.57).
Previously recorded as NHER 6320.

Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 17 September 2014.
