Map

May 2012. Norfolk NMP.
Several linear ditches and at least one possible enclosure are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1-S2) on land to the west of Walnut Tree Farm, Besthorpe.
A possible enclosure close to the street is visible, centred on TM 0710 9632, measuring approximately 31x 33m internally. It may be small enough to represent settlement, perhaps on the edge of Ravens Green shown on Faden’s map of 1797 (S3), with a possible field boundary/enclosure visible to the south, measuring 64m x up to 52m. It is difficult to be certain whether the other linear features represent field boundaries, or modern drainage ditches, but they have been mapped given their location and the site’s proximity to the moated site (NHER 9131) to the east.
E. Bales (NMP), 8th May 2012.
