Map

June 2012. Norfolk NMP.
At least one World War Two zig zag trench, which may have been used as an air raid shelter, is visible on aerial photographs (S1) within in area of allotments to the west of The Grange, Old Buckenham.
The most convincing of these is centred on TM 0621 9112. It measures 11m in overall length, and is visible as a zig zag ditch feature with a bank of possible upcast spoil to the side. A second possible zig zag trench is less clearly visble, centred on TM 0624 9113, with the same overall dimensions. A structure sited between these two features may also have performed an air raid shelter function, although it is difficult to be certain of this and it may be simply an allotment-related structure.
E. Bales (NMP), 12th June 2012.
