Summary

The soilmarks of a probable medieval to post medieval common-edge boundary and/or trackway are visible on aerial photographs at Wattlefield, Wymondham. The site consists of two sections of ditch and bank, bisected by the modern road. Comparision of these features with Faden's map of 1797 suggests that this feature may have acted as a common edge boundary for Wattlefield Common, while the eastern, more substantial hollow. It feasibly may also have formed an earlier route of the post medieval road that now bisects it. The boundary and/or trackway appears to form a continuation of the route recorded to the south, see NHER 17141 for details.
