Full Description
September 2012. Norfolk NMP.
Possible Roman boundaries are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S6) in the vicinity of Crownthorpe Roman temple (NHER 54693). The site is centred on TG 0876 0281 and consists of several linear ditch cropmarks which were oriented parallel and perpendicular to the Roman road NHER 19725. Some of these ditches appear to be crossed by possible medieval to post medieval field boundaries which have been recorded separately (NHER 54695). It should be noted that the location of these ditches is also tentative, as they have been sketched from photographs (S5-S6) which were impossible to rectify.
