A possible World War Two spigot mortar emplacement is visible on aerial photographs (S1-S10) just over 200m to the south of the World War Two training camp and depot on the site of the World War One airfield (NHER 12414).
The site is centred on TL 9826 8742 and consists of a square trench, containing what appears to be a concrete pin or base for a gun, surrounded by a soil bank. It differs from other spigot mortar emplacements in that there are no visible ammunition lockers to the side, but it does appear to contain a mounting for a gun, so has been recorded as a gun emplacement. However, it is still visible as an open trench as late as 1970 (S10), suggesting that it may have performed some other use.
