Full Description
August 2012.
The cropmarks and vegetation marks of fragmentary ditches and former field boundaries and divisions of probable medieval to post medieval date are visible on aerial photographs to the southwest of Coltishall airfield (S1-S2). The site is centred on TG 2551 2234. The western ditch of the rectilinear enclosure or paddock at TG 2566 2226 is depicted on the 1841 Tithe map (S3) suggesting that the cropmarks relate to medieval to post medieval land allotment gone out of use by the mid nineteenth century. The remainder of the ditches are likely to relate to former field boundaries.
S. Horlock (HES), 30 August 2012.
