Full Description
07 June 2011. Trial Trench.
A single trench excavated in the garden of 'Applegarth' House prior to redevelopment recorded post medieval brick walls and a series of probable yard surfaces. These are likely remains of two ranges of buildings depicted on the 1906 Ordnance Survey map (S2) and the Tithe map (S3). They may have been outbuildings for Shipdham Manor (NHER 46299), which was constructed in the late 18th century. The outbuildings were demolished sometime prior to 1980 when 'Applegarth' was constructed.
See report (S1) for further information.
H. Hamilton (HES), 30 October 2012.
