Summary

Four 19th century agricultural buildings were associated with and lie to the north of the former site of the 14th century Walnut Tree farmhouse. The largest was likely a threshing barn while the others were probably cattle sheds. Some alterations were made to the structures over the years and the cattle sheds were partly demolished after 2006. Their remains, along with the threshing barn, were converted to a dwelling after 2009.

January 2009. Building Survey.
Level 2 survey of redundant agricultural buildings at Walnut Tree Farm, prior to their proposed conversion.
The survey identified a complex of 19th century brick agricultural buildings sited around the northern, eastern and western sides of a courtyard. The eastern building is the largest structure and was likely a threshing barn due to its large central doors and storage areas. The western and north-western parts of the courtyard are flanked by adjoining buildings that were likely used as a workshop and cattle sheds but are not of one single build. None of these buildings dates to before the early 19th century. In the late 19th century the threshing barn and cattle sheds were linked by the addition of another agricultural building. The threshing barn is largely intact while only partial remains of the other buildings survive.
