Summary

Excavation in advance of redevelopment recorded one Roman ditch and a medieval ditch or pit. Very few finds were recovered despite the proximity to Brampton Roman town (NHER 1124). Objects were limited to three prehistoric struck flints, three sherds of Roman pottery, a few fragments of undated animal bone, and a single fragment of a medieval roof tile.

Evaluation of proposed development site.
The single trench excavated revealed a Roman ditch and a medieval ditch or pit. Very few finds were recovered despite the proximity to Brampton Roman Fort (NHER 1124). Objects were limited to three prehistoric struck flints, three sherds of Roman pottery, a few fragments of undated animal bone, and a single fragment of a medieval roof tile.
