Full Description
December 2012.
A cropmark is visible on Google Earth imagery from 2006 (S1) comprising a probable trackway opening out into an enclosed area with possible interior divisions. This may be prehistoric in date and potentially related to stock movement/enclosure. Alternatively the feature may be related to common edge settlement associated with Swanton Common or an earlier entrance to Hall Farm.
The cropmarks appear to show a trackway aligned NW-SE for c. 120 m leading into a wider enclosure with arms to the north east and south west continuing for up to 100 m, which appear to turn back to a NW-SE alignment. Only part of the possible enclosure is visible, to a length of over 200 m NW-SE. Possible interior divisions are visible leading off the two arms measuring less than 20 m in length.
