Two 17th-century post-medieval pits investigated during salvage excavations that took place following the demolition of buildings at Parsonage Square.

1971. Salvage excavation.
Investigations by NCM staff during the demolition of buildings on Pasonage Street and the extention of the Telephone Exchange building. Finds from this work are held by the NCM, along with material recovered following the demolition of the nearby Theatre De Luxe building (NWHCM : 1971.44 : A; NWHCM : 1971.45 : A).

The features identified are described in (S1) as follows:
5 Pasonage Square (TG2307 0872).
17th century sherds including a stoneware medallion pot with most of face found in rubbish pit. Part of inscription also found. Discovery of pot noted in (S2)

6 Parsonage Square (TG2350 0869).
Another 17th century pit found a few feet away from the first.
