Summary

Fieldwalking and metal-detecting on this site has recovered a range of prehistoric worked flints, including a Mesolithic or Early Neolithic flaked axehead and a probable Mesolithic core. The other flints found, including a plano-convex knife, are probably Neolithic. Prehistoric burnt flints, two sherds of Roman pottery, a Roman coin and a fragment of fired clay have also been found on this site. These finds were previously recorded under NHER 5655 (the Blood Hill barrow).
