Summary

Fieldwalking in 1960 and 1961 recovered a Palaeolithic flint flake and identified a scatter of numerous presumably later prehistoric flint flakes.

24 August 1960. Fieldwalking.
Examination of the fire strips adjacent to the railway at Broomhill by J. J. Wymer. Found "near the cutting at Bromehill" (NHER 5642):
1 ?Palaeolithic flint flake (W2875). Patinated, stained and with thermal fracturing.
This object is now part of the Royal Holloway (University of London) Wymer Collection.

2 September 1961. Fieldwalking.
Unsystematic fieldwalking by J. J. Wymer on the fire strip to the north of the railway line, immediately east of Broomhill pit.
Numerous prehistoric flint flakes were identified but no tools or retouched pieces were found. No finds were retained.
