Map

Pre March 1977. Stray Find.
Found while diving in the Little Ouse river near Thetford Town Bridge:
1 ?prehistoric perforated stone pebble. Donated to the Thetford Museum (THEHM : 1977.65). The museum records suggest that this may be a prehistoric pebble mace or hammer of Mesolithic/Neolithic date. The stone is however noted as being smoothed and well worked, which (if this is indeed a prehistoric mace) would indicate a later prehistoric rather than Mesolithic date. It is however possible that this object was a later net weight. It is recorded that this stone was selected for petrological analysis, although the results of this are not known.
