Summary

In 1972 a shaft 21m deep, partially brick lined, was discovered on the allotments in this area. At bottom, two unlined tunnels were discovered. It is believed that these are the remains of the chalk or flint mining which was common in Norwich.

Shaft 70ft (21m) deep, brick lined for top 20ft (6.1m) or so. At bottom, two unlined tunnels. Examined by Fire Brigade who reported gas at the bottom.
