Full Description
The cropmarks of a rectilinear enclosure are visible on aerial photographs taken in 2006 and 2013 (S1). The northern half of the enclosure shows very clearly on aerial photographs, with the part to the south of the road being harder to interpret. The approximate dimensions of the enclosure are 70m north-east to south-west and 60m north-west to south-east. Within the outer enclosure part of a smaller square/rectlinear enclosure measuring approximately 13m north-east to south-west is visible.
It is tempting to interpret these cropmarks as a Romano-Celtic temple sitting within a rectangular temenos.
A. Cattermole (HES), 2 September 2013.
