Full Description
Obersvation . September 2013.
This large house has its date -1911- made of tiles set in to façade. The construction of the building is of shuttered rubble with a rough render which was squeezed aginst the shutters during building. Header bricks show through the mortar and the occasional bottle foot. There are semicircular blind arches above windows in the gables which have parapets, tumbling-in and moulded kneeler corbels. The tall chimneys and the bold massing of the rest of the large building are typical of the innovative re-discovery of traditional materials and techniques characteristic of the Arts and Crafts style.
S. Heywood (HES), 7 September 2013.
