Summary

Metal-detecting and fieldwalking between 2012 and 2022 recovered a possible Mesolithic flint blade; a Neolithic flint biface thinning flake; Neolithic/Bronze Age flint flake; Roman, Early/Middle Saxon, Late Saxon and medieval pottery sherds and a range of other, Late Bronze Age to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include a Late Bronze Age awl; an Early/Middle Iron Age brooch; a Late Iron Age/Roman brooch; Roman brooches, bracelet fragments, bells, a finger ring and copper alloy bead; a potentially Roman copper alloy unidentified object; Early Saxon brooch fragments; Middle/Late Saxon strap ends and a hooked tag; Late Saxon strap ends, a disc brooch, buckle, stirrup-strap mounts, strirrup terminal, harness cheek piece and possible bit link; a Late Saxon/medieval lead strap end; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; medieval mounts, harness pendants, a balance, hooked harness fitting, thimble, sewing ring or tailor's thimble, drop handle from furniture, chain link, end cap from scale-tang knife, copper alloy rivet and copper alloy vessel fitting; a medieval/post-medieval purse bar, scabbard mount and copper alloy unidentified object and post-medieval mounts, a candle snuffer, probable shoe heel plate and lead cloth seal.

27 medieval pottery sherds, 10 buckles, 4 strap ends (including an openwork example depicting a lion rampant - see (S3)), 2 strap clasps, 2 strap loops, strap fitting, framed brooch, harness pendant and suspension mount (S4), balance, sword-scabbard chape, drop handle from furniture and copper alloy vessel fitting.
