Summary

A mid-18th or 19th century timber-framed cart shed with five bays, one of which has been turned into a garage. The central portion of the cart shed has a first floor, described as a granary, and a lean-to has been constructed on three sides of the building. Differences observed in the workmanship of the main structure and the lean-to have led to the suggestion that the central portion of the cart shed has been re-erected. The timbers are mostly 20th century, but the original partitioned plan survives.

Map

November 1976. Building Survey.
A timber-framed cart shed with five bays, one of which has been turned into a garage. The central portion of the cart shed has a first floor, and a lean-to has been constructed on three sides of the building. The lean-to appears to have been constructed at the same time as the main structure but there are observed differences in the workmanship, leading to the suggestion that the central portion of the cart shed has been re-erected. Some of the timbers are numbered across the joints. The cart shed was likely constructed in the 19th century.
