Summary

The site of Old Hythe, Upper Sheringham. The remains of the old Lifeboat House are visible on aerial photographs from the 1940s and have subsequently been exposed in the cliff by the sea. During World War Two the Lifeboat House remains were incorporated into the defences and training activities (NHER 28622). Previously recorded under NHER 6255.

Site of Lifeboat House. Previously recorded under NHER 6255 (a record originally created for a potentially Palaeolithic flint recovered to the west of the Lifeboat House). For possible Armada defences at this point, see NHER 38634.

April 2004, Norfolk NMP.
The remains of the old Lifeboat House are visible on aerial photographs from the 1940s at TG 1417 4348 (S1). Although this structure was not mapped the site is adequately recorded on relatively recent maps. During World War Two the Lifeboat House remains were incorporated into the defences and training activities (NHER 28622).
