Summary

A small number of prehistoric worked flints were recovered during the installation of a new electricity cable in 2012 but no archaeologically-signficiant features or deposits were observed. A second watching brief maintained during subsequent groundworks in 2014 recorded two undated pits.

Monitoring of groundworks associated with installation of buried electricity cable.
No archaeologically-significant features or deposits were noted during the stripping of an easement along the eastern edge of the field and the subsequent excavation of the cable trench itself. Two worked flints of probable Late Neolithic/Bronze Age date and a single burnt flint were recovered from the topsoil during this work.
A directional drill pit excavated at the northern end of the cable trench also exposed nothing of interest.

January 2014. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of groundworks associated with installation of cabling and substation bases.
This work revealed two undated pits. One measured 1.46m north-south and was 0.75m deep, while the other measured 0.93m long and was 0.46m deep.
No other archaeological features or finds were encountered.
