Map

October 2002-May 2003. Geophysical Survey.
Geophysical survey work undertaken as part of Environmental Impact Assessment of large proposed mineral extraction area. Initial magnetic susceptibility survey of field, followed by several targeted magnetometry surveys (Areas 1, 5 and 6).

Area 1:
Linear anomalies, possibly related to boundaries or agricultural features.
Concentric linears thought to be associated with adjacent pit.
Several discrete responses that may be associated with isolated ferrous objects and a possible pit.
Area 5:
Anomalies consist of faint linear sections which may be a fragmented response to larger features of agricultural or archaeological origin.
Area 6:
Discrete anomalies likely to have been caused by ferrous objects.

See report (S1) for further details. The results of this work are also summarised in the subsequently produced Impact Assessment (S2).
