Full Description
Almshouse, Ordnance Survey Antiquity - called late 16th century.
Long single storey flint building with brick quoins, and later brick windows etc; stone coat of arms on east gable. Now joined to modern ranges. Tablet in church refers to Sir T. Rant having almshouses built between 1660 and 1671, but apparently there were three other sets in the village that could be referred to. However a 17th century date would suit this building better.
Visited E. Rose (NAU), 9 October 1978.
March 2004, Norfolk NMP
The earthworks of possible garden or horticultural features of post-medieval or modern date are visible to the rear of the almshouse on aerial photographs (NHER 38514).
S. Tremlett (NMP), 22 March 2004
