Summary

In 2003 three trenches were excavated along the route of the A11 Attleborough Bypass Improvement Scheme. Although these trenches targeted a possible Roman road (NHER 4380) and an undated (potentially Roman) road (NHER 33952) no archaeologically significant remains were identified.

September-October 2003. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation on route of A11 Attleborough Bypass Improvement Scheme.
It was initially planned to excavate seven trenches in this area (Trenches 1-7), although it in the end it was only possible to locate three within the proposed landtake area of the scheme (Trenches 5-7). These trenches were placed to investigate a possible Roman road (NHER 4380) and the postulated route of another road or track (NHER 33952).
No archaeological significant features or deposits were identified and no finds were recovered.
