Full Description
March-June 2003. Desk-based Assessment.
Assessment for Stage 2 Environmental Assessment of A11 Attleborough Bypass Improvement Scheme.
See report (S1) for details.
P. Watkins (HES), 8 June 2015.
September-October 2003. Trial Trenching.
Three trenches excavated on route of A11 Attleborough Bypass Improvement Scheme (Trenches 8-10), these placed to investigate the possible location of an undated former road (NHER 20028) possible associated with Attleborough Hall.
Several ditches and a gully of probable post-medieval date were identified in one of the trenches. Another of the trenches exposed four possible pits and several features that following excavation were deemed to be natural. A single flint blade of possible Neolithic date was the only find recovered from the pits.
See report (S2) for further details. The results of this work are also summarised in (S3).
Previously recorded under NHER 39690.
The associated archive has been deposited with the Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2017.575).
P. Watkins (HES), 8 June 2015. Amended 17 May 2019.
