Summary

Groundworks for construction of a new outbuilding were monitored in November 2014. No archaeological finds or features were observed during these works, but the majority of the excavation did not penetrate below the topsoil. Cropmarks previously observed in this area (NHER 49471) indicate that linear features may remain in situ, undisturbed by these works.

Groundworks for construction of a new outbuilding were monitored.
No archaeological finds or features were recorded during the watching brief. However, the majority of the groundworks did not penetrate below the topsoil and potential features may remain in situ. Cropmarks have previously been observed in this area (NHER 49471), indicating that former field boundaries or drainage ditches may survive as cut features below the topsoil.
