March-June 2009. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey on proposed line of the Norwich Northern Distributor Road (Site F1). Area examined in order to achieve representative sample of overall route.
None of the anomalies detected were of obvious archaeological significance. A parallel series of weak positive and negative anomalies were probably associated with cultivation practices, although it is possible several other weak positive linear anomalies may relate to former field boundaries. A number of small discrete dipolar anomalies were also detected across the
area examined, these almost certainly caused by fired or ferrous debris in the topsoil.

April 2012-August 2013. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey on proposed line of Norwich Northern Distributor Road (Block 2).
This survey of an area at the eastern end of the site revealed no clear evidence for sub-surface archaeological remains. Although a range of anomalies were detected these were thought to be of predominantly agricultural or geological origin. The discrete dipolar anomalies detected are typical of the responses caused by the presence of modern ferrous debris. An area of magnetic disturbance corresponds with the line of a modern track that crosses the field.
There was no evidence for surviving remains associated with the two fragmentary linear cropmarks previously mapped at this location (NHER 53485).

May 2014-January 2015. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of areas to north and south of strip examined in 2009 (Areas F1a and F1b).
This survey also identified no evidence for archaeologically-significant remains. Although numerous discrete anomalies were present these were all though to represent either ferrous material in the plough soil or variations in the underlying geology.

April-August 2015. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed line of Norwich Northern Distributor Road (Field F2).
Four trenches were excavated at the eastern end of this site, three of which were positioned to target geophysical anomalies detected during the 2012/2013 survey.
No archaeologically significant remains were encountered and no finds were recovered.
