Map

September-December 2008. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of excavation of directional drilling pits for North Lopham to East Harling rising main (Chainage 2702-2405).
A small pit was observated close to the north-west corner of the field (Chainage 2702). A number of pig bones were recovered from this feature and the surrounding subsoil although it appears that this was not an in situ burial. It is likely that this pit was relatively modern.
Close to the centre of the field a Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age flint side scraper was recovered from the disturbed topsoil (Chainage 2500). A layer was observed at this point that may have been the fill of a pit, although it was thought more likely that this was simply a subsoil deposit.
See report (S1) for further details.
Pit previously recorded under NHER 41691.
