Summary

A trial trench excavated at this site in 2013 revealed no archaeologically significant features. A small assemblage of finds was collected from the subsoil including prehistoric worked flints, Roman pottery sherds, a potentially Roman copper alloy object and post-medieval buttons.

Evaluation of site of proposed manege.
The single trench excavated revealed no archaeologically significant features. A small number of finds were recovered from unstratified soil contexts, including:
1 prehistoric retouched flint flake, 4 flakes and 3 chunks.
5 ?prehistoric burnt flints.
2 Bronze Age flint cores.
2 Roman pottery sherds.
1 ?Roman copper alloy unidentified object (possibly from buckle or strap or harness fitting).
3 post-medieval copper alloy buttons.
