Summary

At an unknown date (but possibly during the 1950s) a spread of potential prehistoric burnt flint 'pot boilers' was noted at this location. It is possible that this spread indicates the presence of a burnt mount.

Map

Unknown date. Casual Observation.
Pot boiler spread identified at [1].
This information is taken from a map drawn by [2] indicating the locations of various discoveries made on the Field House estate [3]. Although a number of 'pot boiler' sites are marked it appears that only three had previously been reported to the Norwich Castle Museum (NHER 2076, NHER 2099 and NHER 2100). The pot boilers at NHER 2076 had been disturbed when the field was ploughed for the first time in 1954 and it seems reasonably likely that a prehistoric burnt mound had been disturbed. It is unclear whether similar evidence was present at the unreported sites, although it should be noted that there is no difference in how they are marked on the map.
