Summary

A geophysical survey undertaken in October 2011 revealed only limited evidence for archaeological significant remains in this field. The only responses of note were a number of fairly faint, straight linear anomalies that may represent cut features. The remaining anomalies were most likely associated with relatively recent activity.

Map

October 2011. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of proposed development site.
This survey revealed only limited evidence for potentially archaeologically significant remains. A number of faint linear positive anomalies may represent cut features associated with management and use of this land. A single negative linear anomaly was identified at the southern edge of the field, although this is parallel to the modern boundary and therefore unlikely to be associated with a feature of any great age. Although a number of positive area anomalies were also identified there is little to suggest that they are archaeologically significant. A number of strong bipolar responses are likely to be the result of modern debris in the soil.
See report (S1) for further details.
