Summary

A fieldwalking and metal-detector survey undertaken at this location in 2015 recovered a small number of objects including potentially prehistoric burnt flints, Neolithic/Bronze Age worked flints and Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds. No obviously concentrations identified.

November 2013. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey.
Field survey of proposed extension to Norton Subcourse Quarry (Extraction Phases 14).
The small assemblage of finds recovered comprised:
6 Neolithic or Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age worked flints, including 1 core fragment and 5 flakes.
8 ?prehistoric burnt flints.
2 Roman pottery sherds.
1 medieval pottery sherd.
3 post-medieval pottery sherds.
No concentrations of material were identified.
The metal-detecting recovered only modern objects and other recent debris.
